ARTIST STATEMENT
I enjoy the challenge of underwater photography because for me it is a completely different world.
I have spent countless hours free diving and chasing fish underwater in pursuit of the “ULTIMATE SHOT”.
For me, being underwater is a truly unique experience. This experience allows me to be as if I were one with the ocean. The underwater world is so different from our own that I choose to share my experiences through the lens. I have to constantly experiment and learn from many trials and errors.
My craft is much more difficult and dangerous than most other photographers because I prefer to get close to the fish and subject matter. I dive on a single breath hold. The oceans unique atmosphere can reveal so many different unique life forms. These forms allow me to capture images that are so vivid that they almost seem unreal. Each image that I produce can create a different mood. This is all due to the lighting and subject matter.
Being able to dive down beneath the surface and having the ability to capture these high quality images is a new kind of art form. With this being said, I have yet to gain the respect from “art Critics” that my work most rightfully deserves. I prefer to print my images on canvas as it just enhances them by adding dimension. The photography that I shoot is my contribution to the world. What inspires me the most is trying to figure out what is going to be my next shot! |
